9th International Conference on Discourse Markers in Romance Languages (DISROM 9)
University of Oviedo, Spain | June 10–12, 2026
Following the tradition of previous editions held in Madrid (2010), Buenos Aires (2011), Campinas (2012), Heidelberg (2015), Louvain-la-Neuve (2017), Bergamo (2019), Craiova (2022), and Lisbon (2024), the University of Oviedo is pleased to host the 9th International Conference on Discourse Markers in Romance Languages (DISROM 9), which will take place from June 10 to 12, 2026. This edition aims to revisit the conference’s original spirit by placing a special emphasis on contrastive analyses of discourse markers across Romance languages.
Submission Guidelines
All proposals must be submitted via the EasyChair platform in PDF format and adhere to the following instructions:

Submissions must be anonymous.

The maximum length is 300 words.

Include a brief biographical note (submitted separately from the anonymized proposal).

Oral Presentations: 20 minutes for the presentation, followed by 10 minutes for discussion.

Conference Themes
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Synchronic and diachronic studies of discourse markers in Romance languages.

Contrastive analyses involving two or more Romance languages, or different varieties of a single Romance language.

Discourse markers in second language acquisition contexts.
-
Issues related to the translation and interpretation of discourse markers.
Review Process
All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer review conducted by members of the Scientific Committee.
Conference Languages
Proposals may be submitted and presented in any Romance language.
